“Be who God designed you to be NOT what the world wants you to be.”
In High School, the was this one girl, Pee. She was so slick, always neat, bag always clean, shoes skinny and her hair…her hair was just always neatly tucked in. I wanted to be her, even though I had the same hair texture and the length back in High School. Pee’s hair was just magically. You know that girl, right? Nod yes, I know you know HER!
For the longest time I struggled with wanting to be Pee, behaving like Pee and tying my hair like hers. That journey is frustrating! Like any other thing we try acquiring on ourselves - it gets frustrating. It is like running the opposite direction of the wind.
NEVER in the Bible, does God EVER say, “Girl, what do YOU want to do?” Instead He said, “Before I placed you in your mother’s womb—I ALREADY KNEW YOU!”
A couple of months back, I started telling people, close to me, how I ripped off my vision board after watching Relationship Goals Reloaded by Pastor Mike Todd. Yes, Pastor Mike made us rip off pages and ideas we had concerning our lives and futures. Until, one night in bed I looked up and saw my vision board which had a lot of stuff on it, even had pictures cut off from magazines, stickers, drawings (I wish I had taken a picture before ripping it off so you know exactly what I am talking about) as I looked up I realised my vision board was filled with things I wanted to do (material mostly). Most of which were not inspired by the Holy Spirit. I ripped it off and threw in the bin.
Do not get me wrong – I am firm believer of having a vision, goals and dreams, how else would you get to were you need to get, I just had to rip off MY ideas and turn to God to tell me who He has made me to be.
God is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. He knows your future from the beginning!
So really, the questions we SHOULD be asking are, “What am I good at? What has GOD called and equipped me to do? Where does GOD want me to go?”
“…that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” – Romans 12:2
It’s easy to covet someone else’s gift because they getting more attention from it. But when we start trying to live out a gift that’s not ours, we disposition ourselves from where God wants us to be. I always ask this; when you busy trying to be someone else, who is busy being you?
That just leaves a huge gap in the World! The World needs you, your unique gift, your personality and your talents!
Most of us get frustrated because we’re trying to do what WE want to do— NOT what God designed us to do! Stop resisting your path and stay in your lane.
If you’ll SURRENDER to God’s Purpose and Perfect Will, pray about it and fast about it, you can lean into HIS calling.
Let me tell; after ripping of MY vision board, I felt a sense of peace a new direction and a clear path, which I am currently on, it doesn’t mean the dreams I have are dead, they are more in line with God’s masterplan.
ONCE YOU RIP YOUR IDEAS AND TAKE ON GOD’S IDEAS you will fast realise that you feel so much better when you finally get in YOUR LANE!
True fulfilment, I tell you!
Has God been unsettling your heart, trying to lead you in a different direction? (Yes? No?)
I would like to hear what you have experienced in figuring out your unique path, tell me them.
