10 Daily Habits That Are Drastically Improving My Life

“You’ll never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine” John C. Maxwell

I have come to realise that the things you do daily actually add up to the result of your life, what you achieve. Let me put it out there in past years, after the birth of my daughter, I just started living. Disregarding life and hoping for the best, sounds like an oxymoron, right? But that is what I did, I continued to the same thing and getting the same results. I had to improve! I had to improve my spiritual growth, my mood, improve my thinking and yes, my health.

Like growing, starting a business or being a leader, improving yourself or staring a daily habits/routine requires discipline and commitment. We still on the journey to a balanced and energetic life right, I won’t leave you behind!

Here are the 10 habits that are improving my life:

1. Waking Up Early – Putting God first! That is a top priority, I remember reading one of the Voice of Victory Magazines by Kenneth Copland Ministries, And Mrs. Gloria Copland said that once she started giving her time first to God she started doing more during the day. At first, I thought to myself “that cannot be right” let me tell you, that is true. Waking up early starting with God actually charges you to do more during the day, it’s like plugin your phone to the charger for the battery to last the entire day (even though they sometimes don’t, but our power source, Jesus, goes on and on, yes!).

2. Grateful heart – I know we are taught this in church and even though I am there and hearing this most of the time it used to be a religious sermon to me. But, in fact being more grateful actual firstly, shows you how much you actually have and secondly, is required of us “in everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you” – 1 Thessalonians 18. It is a happy pill!

3. Setting Boundaries – I used to do everything and anything for whoever asked! If you must ask me that frustrated me, I talk about this more in how to deal with being overwhelmed. So, I started to do a personal ROI, YES! I have a personal Return of Investment table. Every time I get asked for something, I literally evaluate whether I need to do it, whether it will draw me nearer to God or shifting me off my position. What doing this does is give me PEACE! That is what that brings, PEACE. Do not be afraid to say NO.

4. Development Plan – Action plan – Journaling - I write a lot, I write everything. Mere writing doesn’t make a difference though. I started prioritizing my Goal list and I include steps to achieving them, something like a project management sheet. I reflect on my day, week I check on my prayer list, write things God says to me. Journaling and having that project management sheet actually helps you monitor your life growth.

You probably thinking after the previous two point, this woman’s life is a business! You might be right…

5. Managing my time right - This is important, I have a full post on just this! If we want to achieve a balanced life, we need to take managing our time right serious. Most times our to do list is dripping… overflowing to the next day. I started my five prioritizing strategy which I go in detail in the How to Manage Your Time Right. This helps get at least 5 things done daily, the joy that comes when start achieving most things on your list, priceless try it, you will thank me later!

6. Asking for help – I had to stop thinking I am Ms. Know it all! Stop it! Successful people or confident people know when to ask for help. We are a body in this world, the leg runs better than the hand, we don’t expect you, the ear to taste the food. Ask for assistance! Asking someone who knows better or simple is able to help doesn’t make you weak or stupid, you are optimizing your time and that helps you focus more on things you are good at!

7. Giving credit and appreciating others - This in a sense is serving others, if you know me very well, you will notice or know how passionate I am about serving in fact one of my life quotes is that I have a servant heart and king/royalty mentality, did you know that that is just how Jesus is? So, as soon as I received Christ, I start living Christ. A life of service! Now if you there having a big head about it and you are a business owner or you are aspiring to be one, know this; Entrepreneurs or businesses are providing a service! You are in essence serving, the is a difference and a different kind of improvement you get from the two. In people service, your reward is with God and all of His blessings and with the other, it comes through compensation/payment. Serving others builds our confidence, I would really encourage you to consciously do it daily, sometimes it is just saying something valuable or encourage the next person.

8. Actively developing my mind – Read Read Read, Learn Learn! Currently reading the 7 Spirit of God by Pastor Chris as well as Relationship Goals by Mike Todd. Researching is part of my Virtual Assistant business. Virtual business includes staying in the know of new software, apps, systems and technology. I daily take it upon myself to learn something new! Read up on your industry or business. Don’t be too consumed on the socials, unless you there for inspiration and improvement.

9. Know who you are – I learnt this in my early years of being born again! You know the saying; “know who you are or the world will tell you who you not”? Yes, daily affirming and being conscious of who you are makes it unlikely for the world or external forces to shift your focus on who you are and what you came into this world for! This includes meditating on the Word of God continually.

10. Eating Right – for maximum energy – healthy living improves your day-to-day energy and focus. This is not just about food this includes your sleeping schedule, in as much as I start waking up early, I needed to be sleeping earlier (with the exception of some days). You need that good rest. Water is important, that is your best friend. Don’t forget your basic intakes; carbs, protein, fibres, good fats and your fruits! Please note I am not a nutritionist and this is based on my personal experience. I started my journey of eating more plant-based food and let me tell you, the results are starting to pop up! Be conscious of your health!

We are beautifully balanced right?
