Feeling Overwhelmed? 5 doable ways to fly over the feeling of Overwhelmed.

Ever had a dream where you are running and you just keep running and running, but not reaching the destination? I used to have those dream (dreams are most often the reality of the natural life)

This past week I felt exactly that way, having more to do than the is hours in the day. I couldn’t possibly get everything done all today. Felt that way the entire week. You can imagine my energy levels by Wednesday, trying to chase tasks against just a couple of hours.

If you are a mom, working mom or a business owner you know what I am talking about. We often have to play many different roles all at the same time.

Stop being everything of nothing all at the same time!

Here are some tips to handle those feelings and not drown in feeling, based on my personal experience:

1.Write everything down

One thing I do, which I did ever since I learnt how to write was posses a couple of notebooks and journals and I write. I write all my thoughts and feelings. (I’ll probably write a post about journaling and share a couple of funny stories about my journey of journaling) You don’t have to be an exceptional writer, following all literature codes and rules. But write all about those overwhelming feelings, it is really a good pressure reliever, a great outlet!

2. Meditate – Breath –

Simple enough right? But so many of us are caught up in life that we miss this, with all the role playing, hats to wear and things to do. We forget to align ourselves to our inner self and be in the now moment. I always talk about this (check out my previous post on plugging to the source) and I will continue to do so, this was one of my downfalls in the previous years and wouldn’t wish for anyone to fall in the say pit. Meditating on the Word of God keeps one connected to the source and makes your ways prospers (Joshua 1:8) You actually get calm in knowing that you can do all things through Christ (Philippians 4:13) and that you the able to get things done. Make some quite time to commune with Holy Spirit!

3. Review your goals –

Having an ultimate vision of where you want to be or the things you need to get done for the day may look like a huge task. Some of the techniques I use is the 5 prioritize a day technique, I explain this in detail on my professional blog: Managing Your Time Right. What I do is I write all my goals for the day which is influenced by my SMART month or Year Goal then from that list I highlight all the important and urgent things in a certain colour, change the highlighter to highlight important but not urgent items on my list. Prioritize those things that day (the are really great apps that can do this simpler with less paper work lol, I mention one of them in the blog post)

4. The is nothing like enough time –

Never! Time is a high demand commodity! Don’t sit back and wait for “when I have enough time” – do what you can in the time you have, don’t waste it away, but don’t be hard on yourself for not getting everything on the list done. Acknowledge what you got done so far, celebrate that. Do not wallow in worry.

“Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?” [Luke 12:25 NLT]

5. Stop being to hard on yourself –

I had to continuedly learn and remind myself of this, more so this past weekend! I am a little of a perfectionist which is not always a good thing when I start feeling overwhelmed. Not everything needs to perfect – excellent, yes! Quality, yes! I always have to remind myself that it doesn’t have to be totally perfect all the time! This is one of the reasons I only started publicly blogging and talking about my blogs just recently “I can only start publicly posting once I am a perfect writer and have great amount of knowledge about almost everything” hah! I would have never started!

Bonus Tip – Drink tea, coffee, water…just relax -

My favourite thing ever! Chamomile Tea, Cucumber and mint infused water, Mugg and Bean Mocha and The Festive Toffee Nut Starbucks drink. Oh, my word! I really need to do a hot drinks post, what do you think?

Take a time out from social media and from “life” this gives you a refreshed focus – it has a way of making a task look easier and more achievable. Realize some of things, really just don’t matter.
