I know some of us are last minute folks and only started setting our goals and resolution just yesterday. LoL, I am probably talking about you!
You are not too late and if you have already set your goals, good for you! Please, don’t judge the late comers!
So, I thought let me let you in my journal and broadcast 4 of my top goals/resolutions for 2020 don’t hesitate to include or add in your long list, it might just be of great benefit.
I know we like setting material and physical goals, that is not bad, in fact I have a couple of those in my list.
Just towards the end of 2019, I started reading a book The Practicing Mind by Thomas M. Sterner and the is chapter; Process not Products, where it talks about training yourself to be present and process-oriented and not product-oriented.
CHANGE THINGS UP!
Instead of a long list of material achievements, add lifetime investments!
Here are 4 top resolutions you could add to grow and improve yourself in 2020:
1. Read More
It is easy to include this in your list, right? But, saying read more is not giving a clear goal post so, instead note it as: Read a book a month don’t just stop there, make a list of all the books you would like to read for the coming 12 months. Reading develops and nurtures the mind.
2. Start Something New
We all have a list of all the things we would like to do, remember the post uncomfortable in the comfort zone make it a goal/resolution this year to do something legal however, out of your comfort. Write 3-5 things outside your comfort zone that you dread to do and must do in 2020.
3. Relational Prosperity
Just recently, I listened to a 4 part series teaching by Apostle Joshua Selman on Financial Dominion where he spoke about five areas of prosperity which included relational prosperity. So, this year I am personally nutrition my relationships, relationships that I have neglected in a while that bared fruits, positive fruits. I am going to prosper in relationships this year! That means investing time on the people I love, making new valuable professional and social relationships and reviving neglected relationships that are fruitful. And valuing people more.
4. Build Intermate Relationship with God
I know, I always put the most important at end, I sometimes read things from the back to front, for some reason I think people are like me! Lol this is the most important to me and charts every other goal. Every year I strive for this, for more intimacy and more understanding. 4 things for achieving this goal.
· Spend time with God - you know how you do all the fun things with your friends? Shopping, movies, picnic etc.? Jesus is our friend too and we need to maintain that relationship by praying, in worship and dedicating quiet time with God.
· Having a grateful heart – Psalm 107:8-9, “let us give thanks to the Lord for His unfailing love and his wonderful works” We all know we like being appreciated, hearing someone say ‘Thank You’ means a lot to most of us and is a great motivator to do better and to do more. When last did you say ‘thank you’ to God and you genuinely meant it.
Make a conscious decision to do so this year and regularly, in prayer and on random just always have a grateful heart. This includes saying thank you to other people around you.
· Studying the Bible Daily - Read your Bible everyday. I know it is easier said than done, but know this, it is important! for you to have an intimate relationship you need to know God, that means studying His Word. My suggestion would be that we follow a bible study plan or get a good daily devotional which most times include a bible study guide.
· Attend Church/Small group gatherings - I know what you thinking “I can read the Bible and pray at home” or better yet “I can hop on to YouTube to get a sermon or two” well, that is true, but the is something special about coming together to fellowship. Hebrews 10:24-25 (NKJ) “And let us consider one another to provoke love and to do good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another: and so much, as ye see the day approaching – making time to attend church brings forth a corporate anointing it and connects you to a whole new level of intimacy with God.
There are my four top New Year Resolutions that I hope will improve my character and ultimately my entire life. Will you join in?
If you have any other resolutions you will be adding let me know!
Happy New Year! A start to another decade! We made it, give Glory to God!
