Welcome to my first blog post!
"Life happens when your comfort-zone ends" - Neale Donald Walsch
When I was younger I had big dreams of where I wanted to be, the career and business I wanted to venture in. As time passed by, I slowly got comfortable with being ordinary.
My Background: I got born again when I was still in Primary School and I did a lot in soaking myself in the Word of God. I knew then that God's plans for my life was good and to prosper me.(Jeremiah 29: 11). I strived to push myself beyond what I knew.
"No person was created to be a failure" - Kay Ngoepe
Getting Uncomfortable: Even though I was comfortable throughout the years, something was missing. Like the prodgical son in the Bible (Luke 15:11-32) I had to come to myself. Coming to myself made me feel misplaced, uncomfortable in comfort.
THREE THINGS THAT MADE ME REALIZE DISCOMFORT
1. I felt I was not doing much, not making a difference. Feeling lost with no direction.
2. I started to recognize how far I still had to go.
3. I simple realized that my life matters and the is a set purpose for my life and that I was settling for a mediocre life.
So this year I stepped out of comfort, because of how uncomfortable I had become. I noted down three things that I pushed myself to do in order to step out comfort.
THREE THINGS THAT GOT ME OUT OF COMFORT
I started a Blog! yes, this is way out of my comfort, I feel like it's barring my soul to the public. In essence it is, but I wanted to share this journey with many souls out there going through the same or similar life transitions.
For the first time I did an elevator pitch for my virtual assistant business in a room full of strangers! In front of one of my top 10 inspirational humans (Be on the look out for the post on that), Uncle Sibusiso Leope well known as DJ Sbu.
Just recently, I started learning Spanish, on this great free app Duolingo (You can find it on your app store).
Blessing Zone: My point of stepping out of comfort is such a familiar story to the one of Abram who was later renamed Abraham because of the purpose he carried. In Genesis 12:1 "Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee"
Abram needed to step out of what he was used to, hiscomfort and into the unknown - The Blessing zone. Further in the Bible we find out how God fulfilled His promise to Abram who was then named Abraham, by blessing him with a son, Isaac.
Clearly stepping out leads to stepping into something better or greater.
In most cases we find that the blessings/success is outside of our comfort room. I encourage you today take that leap of faith open the door and step out of your comfort room.
The year is gradually coming to an end, what is that one thing you are proud of that pushed you out of your comfort this year? I would like to hear your stories.
If you have not yet done anything out of your comfort, not all hope is lost you still have a few weeks left, Try something that will push you out of your comfort (making sure it is nothing illegal or that would put in harm)
I cannot wait to hear from you! Be on the look out for my next post on Gaining and Maintaining Your Self-Confidence.
