"And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him" (Luke 22:43).
One of the great benefits of prayer is that it strengthens you against unbelief, to do God’s will. Unbelief isn’t only the opposite of faith. Unbelief can also be a refusal to act as God said we should act. Imagine that you’re unhappy about something and you want to take a certain action, the very action you think might be appropriate for that situation and the Spirit says, “No need; let the matter go.” Yet, you go ahead with your decision anyway, that’s unbelief. It is as though you don’t trust God to sort it out or have the matter settled.
In the past, I’ve had struggles with certain people in my life. I just couldn’t get it right with them. We always rubbed each other the wrong way (that is before I realised I was trying to do it MY way). In that very moment or season I was in unbelief. I needed to up my prayer.
In prayer, you’re supposed to let go! In the place of prayer, you’re supposed to give up the consciousness of everything else and everybody else. When you’re in prayer, you give up offences, and humbly fellowship in God’s presence. Your spirit is calm from every disturbance or distraction. At that moment, you can yield to His love, direction and His will.
Most of the time we have so much to tell Him, sometimes He interrupts you; He starts talking before you talk. Suddenly, at that point all the doubt, anger and frustration disappear, and we are strengthened. I know this for sure! Many of times I’ve had days were I just felt I couldn’t and that matched my prayer life/commitment. Every time I felt like that I would reflect on my weeks or months prayer pattern and realised that I was not so pluged in.
Prayer strengthens us!
Remember how this happened with Jesus? As He prayed during that moment of anguish; the Bible says He received strength, “…there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him” (Luke 22:43).
Take more time to be in fellowship with God, in prayer, especially in these last days. The more frequently you pray, the more you come in sink with the Spirit’s mind, to His ways, strategy and direction. Hallelujah!
As you spend more time in prayer, you will be strengthened!
God Loves you and the is nothing you can do about it!
